Buddy came to K Kids as an owner surrender. He apparently started his life in Texas where he was adopted as a young dog, then moved to VA with his family.  He was surrendered because he bit a sleeping child who removed a book from under his sleeping body on a couch.  Here’s the thing:  Buddy was very overweight, itchy, and has arthritis. Just saying---if that were me, I might bite a kid that shoved me when I was sleeping, too. 

Buddy was 30 pounds when we got him.  He’s now 20 thanks to the diligent care of his foster mom.  Here’s what she has to say about him:  He is about 8-1/2 yrs old Dachshund mix. He's funny, loyal, scrappy, and smart. He never has never had an accident while in foster, likes to sleep on the floor by your bed, loves car rides and apples for snacks. He came into foster needing some pain issues resolved.  He has arthritis and needs a monthly injection, which is easily managed and not too expensive. Due to the arthritis, he does not go on walks, yet is playful and has learned all about squirrels. He would do well as an only dog or with another dog his size (20#).  He would be great as a companion to a person (or two!) but children would be too much for his limited activity levels.
