Scout is a fantastic dog. She's entertaining as can be. She is VERY food motivated, and she will "smile" for you when she really wants something. Scout loves all people, and she's great in the car and out in public. She's fine with other dogs and in all social settings. Her biggest issue is being too friendly and pawing at people for attention, but we have a trick to remind her not to do that. Scout is incredibly playful and silly. She loves toys and can de-squeak any toy in about a minute. She sleeps at the foot of the bed most of the time, keeping feet nice and toasty. She also has these great "dumbo ears" that she will show off when she's wanting attention or food. She also has a power tail, so you'll know when she's near!
Scout has a history of bladder stones. Because of that, she has to be fed a special kibble and we give her apple cider vinegar on her food. As long as she sticks to her diet, she shouldn't have any issues. She will come with a full bag of food which will last a very long time, because Scout also has a slow metabolism, so she doesn't get very much food or she gains weight!
Scout has been living in a many-dog household most of her life. Her family actually runs a rescue, so dogs are constantly coming and going. We love Scout and are sad about rehoming home, but she would much prefer to be an only dog or have a male friend to play with---she does playing with other dogs. BUT, she will fight with whatever female she thinks is the leader of the pack. Every few months, she starts a fight. Unfortunately for Scout, she is a terrible fighter, and she keeps getting hurt. We are very scared that she could be injured or even killed in one of these fights with our larger females. Our only other option is to crate and rotate her with our other dogs, which means she would spend at least half of her life in a crate. She doesn't deserve that. She's an awesome dog, and she deserves SO much better.
Scout's adoption fee will be $275. She currently resides in Charlottesville, VA.
