This is Cocoa.  Cocoa’s person has health issues and needs to surrender him.  He’s 9. A wonderful neighbor is fostering him until we can get him adopted.  I’m going to let his person tell you his story:

“Cocoa was born on 7/17/14.  A young, single mother had moved back to her mother's home in NC after a breakup.  While there, the dog mated with a neighbor's dog & got pregnant.  I got him on 9/11/14.

Cocoa is a wonderful, sweet, loving dog who loves to lay all over you, give lots of kisses and REALLY loves back and belly rubs.  He can stay home loose with no problem at all. He has NEVER torn up anything.  Doesn't get into the trash.  He does not mess in the house at all (unless you've left him for WAY too long). He does well with other animals for the most part. He's visited & lived with many different dogs of all breeds & sizes.  He "prefers" small to medium sized dogs but does fine with larger ones too.  The only time that he has an issue with other dogs/people is when he's on a leash while taking a walk.  He has NEVER, EVER, EVER scratched or bitten another animal/person.  He "ACTS" all bad & pulls towards them pretty hard.  It can scare people who don't know him (and anyone who takes him out on a leash DEFINITELY needs to know this & must always grip the leash tight when others come around). It's best to walk him when there's no one else around otherwise, they should just veer away from others while he's leashed. However, if everyone gets down to his level & the dog/person is introduced, he'll sniff everyone, let you pet him for a little bit, wag his tail & then he'll "play bad" again. Everyone who gets to know him knows he's just full of hot air. He does REALLY REALLY love going on walks though. Now if he's not leashed, in a fenced yard or inside a house, he's MUCH better. He'll initially bark at everyone when they come in, but if everyone sits down, he'll be playing, kissing & laying all over them in no time.  He has never lived with a cat but was always very nice & interested in them at the vet's office (they had cats that they let walk/lay all over).”
